Although, often cut as a gemstone, citrine is actually somewhat rare in nature. Citrine is only one of several quartz varieties. Being of the Quartz Family, it has a hardness of 7, fracture is conchoidal, glassy luster, rhombohedral cleavage, and is transparent to sub-translucent.
