Citrine is often called quartz topaz, citrine topaz, or topaz. Citrine is any quartz crystal or cluster that is yellow, amber, to amber brown. Although, often cut as a gemstone, citrine is actually somewhat rare in nature. Citrine is only one of several quartz varieties. Being of the Quartz Family, it has a hardness of 7, fracture is conchoidal, glassy luster, rhombohedral cleavage, and is transparent to sub-translucent.
Citrine is one of the only stones that dissipates negative energy, and never requires cleansing or clearing. Warm energy, promotes optimism. Also attracts abundance, and is known as a "merchants' stone," to be placed in cash register or where one conducts business, to not only acquire positive wealth but to maintain it as well.
